"Originally created by chef Dominique Ansel in New York, the croissant-doughnut hybrid (cronut) caught everyone’s imaginations and spawned a succession of homages. The Alberts Schloss take on the sweet pastry is an utter delight, freshly baked in-house with a range of tempting flavours including chocolate gateaux and salted caramel with popcorn. This week, to tie-in with royal wedding fever, try the Eton mess: a golden sugar kronut with strawberry jam, vanilla cream, glazed strawberries, meringue kisses and fresh mint."

"30/05/2021: I’m having difficulties deciding what was worse the food or the service I went to Regal cafe at 12.30pm hoping to get the breakfast which finishes at 1pm , my kids and I stood around for 10/15min being totally ignored before being seated, there wasn’t a queue, waiters just walked past and ignored me when I asked for a table. Finally when we were seated I tried placing my order straight away, I asked 4 different waiters who walked past that I’m ready to place my order each waiter said either 5min or 2 min, after 20min of being seated I asked the 5 time only to be told it’s 1.10pm and no longer taking breakfast orders !!!!!!!. Breakfast order finish at 1pmWe ordered lunch, samosa chart was not a samosa chart, it was cold samosa with last nights chickpea curry thrown on top, the masala fish stunk of mold, burgers were eatable !!!"

Cask masters: A craft-beer enthusiast’s guide to Manchester
"Unusually colourful (its orange banquettes and Perspex back-bar give it a look of a 1980s Top of the Pops set), this Dale Street tap-house serves a mix of quality guest beers (Wild Beer, Mikeller, Burning Sky), and Beatnikz’ hop-forward brews, such as I Smash Citra and Generation IPA. The weekday cask ale deals are notable (recently pie ‘n’ a pint £5, Mon/Tues), as is Beatnikz’s ability to bag high-profile guests for its meet-the-brewer events. For instance Arbor Ales and US star Modern Times. Pint from £3.70, beatnikzrepublic.com"
