Best breakfast and brunch places in Liverpool and beyond
"Liverpool’s truest execution of Guy Beringer’s Plea is served at Moose Coffee – a decadent eatery inspired by American breakfast culture. Championing classics like pancakes, waffles and mouth-watering French toast stacks, this extensive menu is sure to satisfy every Bruncher’s need. Moose Coffee’s flagship location is on Dale Street, but it wouldn’t be the most surprising thing in the world if you are greeted at this very popular spot with a wait for a table."
"An authentic American/Canadian diner which serves brunch all day!. Moose Coffee is one which I had read a lot about before visiting Liverpool for the second time and knew it was a must when heading back. There are three Moose Coffee’s in Liverpool (as well as one in Leeds and two in Manchester), so if one is full you aren’t too far from another!"
"Moose Coffee has become a city centre favourite for foodies. Try their £8.30 “Might Moose” breakfast, which consists of delicious homemade fresh potato hash fried on the griddle with garlic, onion and dijon mustard topped with two fried eggs and bacon. Oh and it comes with toast (white or granary, your choice)."
"The Ivy Spinningfields in Manchester is a multi-faceted venue, offering several floors of beautiful settings and tasty food and drinks. Apart from ground floor Ivy Brasserie and second floor Ivy Asia, the true gem is found at the very top, with the Ivy Roof Garden. Very colorful and very lush, the spacious rooftop really deserves its 'garden' epithet."
"One of Manchester's most glamorous destinations ever since it opened in 2018 has been The Ivy in Spinningfields. The swish restaurant and bar will be reopening its ground floor outdoor terrace from April 12. The space is both covered and heated, so it's perfect for Manchester's less-than-favourable weather."
"The Great Northern branch of Home Sweet Home offers an afternoon tea with a difference. As well as a selection of loose leaf teas or coffees and a tier of mini open bagels with maple cured BLT and smoked salmon, there is also a tier of fresh churros. The warm Spanish style doughnuts are dusted with cinnamon sugar and Dreamcheese frosting and served with warm Nutella dip and fresh strawberries."
"Seed & Cherry in the trendy Northern Quarter offers a unique artisan coffee experience. Alongside this, you can enjoy breakfast or brunch which includes a variety of healthy and creative recipes served as small plates. Its unique menu means you can try a variety of European and Mediterranean style savoury brunch dishes and still have room for its famous French toast."
"In fact, other than my occasional pilgrimages to the Grindsmith Pod, I think the last time was when I attended the original Cup North in 2014. So I am indebted to the Best Coffee App for drawing me to Chapel Street and the gem that is Another Heart To Feed, a Melbourne-inspired coffee shop and kitchen which opened in March this year, serving food from an all-day brunch menu and some excellent coffee from London’s Union. There’s the usual espresso-based menu, with Union’s Bright Note as the house-blend, plus a single-origin on pour-over through the V60 and another available as bulk-brew filter."
"The Lounges are a group of modern, fun and slightly quirky restaurants. “What is it that people love best about Lounging?"
"A post shared by Portland Street 358 (@portlandst358) on Jul 4, 2019 at 11:54am PDT. If there’s anything better than cheesecake, it’s galaxy salted caramel cheesecake. We highly recommend leaving plenty of room for this one – or if you can resist, share it with someone!"
"It is so right in a really wrong kind of way and one of these will leave you basking on the couch like a woozy sea lion."
"On the Albert Dock has been making grill style comfort food since 1978. It’s safe to say they’ve had a lot of practise. They even have an all day American grazing platter that includes BBQ ribs, seasoned chicken goujons, potato skins, corn on the cob, tortilla chips, onion rings, barbecue sauce, salsa and sour cream."

"Another of the city’s lesser-known gallery gems is the aptly named The Gallery, situated in The Baltic Triangle. Set on the first floor of John O’Keefe and Son Ltd, The Gallery aims to support local artists with regular exhibitions and featured artists. The Gallery is also in fine company with the likes of Ghetto Golf and Red Brick Vintage just a stone’s throw away."
"If you’re up early and exploring the beautiful Albert Dock and waterfront, head to Brasco Lounge to enjoy a delicious breakfast with a waterfront view from their outdoor terrace. With an extensive brunch menu, that includes all the classics as well as some interesting twists (try their Lounge Eggs with Chorizo, Peppers and Guacamole or the delectable Boston Barbecue Beans with peppers, tomatoes, hash browns and an egg), you can fuel up on their freshly prepared food before heading out to enjoy some of Liverpool’s best tourist attractions."
"Brasco Lounge is right on Liverpool’s Waterfront and is the perfect location to enjoy views of The Mersey with a stack of pancakes. Head down for some of their triple-stacked buttermilk pancakes and choose from berry compote, banana and Greek Yoghurt or bacon and maple syrup. For something a little different why not try their Halloumi and Sweetcorn pancakes for a bit of a savoury twist."
"Brasco Lounge is located just opposite Museum of Liverpool just by the Alberts Docks. This cute place seats 80 people in a cool atmosphere and serves a great selection of tapas. It is perfect if you just want something to nibble on or a proper meal alike."
"Serving up the very best wood-fired Neopolitan pizzas since 2013, this Smithdown Road institution is still open for delivery and collection (contact-free option). Open from 5pm you can order through Deliveroo or call ahead and collect. And please be patient folks, they’re knocking out some of the finest pizza in south Liverpool, so might take a few minutes to pick up the phone."
"The Little Furnace has gluten free options and a separate vegan menu so even if you are dairy free you can enjoy the cheesy goodness!. They even have a takeout option and are conveniently located on Smithdown Road. Our favourite is the simple but reliable classic Regina Margherita."
"🙌 Need to know: The Arndale Market is exactly where you’d expect it to be, within the Arndale Centre in Manchester city centre. There’s tons of food stalls to try out – whether you’re on the go or fancy trying something new, and you’ll probably stumble upon the fish market too. Salt & Pepper MCR is a real highlight, but there’s a little something for everyone – including sweets, baked goods, Mexican food, sandwiches and Chinese food."
"Goods: Fish, fresh produce, exotic fruit and veg, meat and poultry, clothing and accessories, fine cheese, hairdressing salon and tattoo parlour. About: Located in the heart of community Arndale Market is home to a diverse range of stalls offering everything from homewares to the latest fashions. Described as a 'Millennial take on the traditional Market' Arndale has been named as one of the UK's 'Top Ten' Markets."
"Every lunch break, it’s been consistently there for us, and over the years, it’s kind of acted like a springboard of success for local food vendors. Both Viet Shack and Salt & Pepper have gone leaps and bounds since opening up on the market, with the likes of Just Natas, Piazza MCR, and Dunkin’ Burgers currently enjoying residence at the busy foodie spot. Arndale Market, 49 High St, M4 3AH."
