"A 15-minute walk from the train station, in a former industrial zone where the warehouses are being repurposed as offices and studio spaces, this site is home to the Northern Monk Brewery Co and, on the first floor, a ruggedly handsome tap room. Naturally, Northern Monk’s beers feature prominently (long on flavour, the zesty, citrussy Eternal Session IPA was in great form) but some 20 lines include plenty of space for potent (in all senses of the word) guest beers, most of them also served in thirds. On this visit these included Kernel’s Export Stout, Cromarty Brewing’s fantastic AKA IPA and Magic Rock’s famous, if not notorious, Human Cannonball – dangerously drinkable at 9.2%."
"One of the stars of Leeds South Bank, Northern Monk Old Flax Store brewery beer garden is the perfect place to soak up the rays and a few pints of their world beer cup winning Eternal Session IPA. There’s an ever-changing selection of kitchen takeovers from the area’s best street food traders to soak up all the drinks, not to mention the train station is only minutes away. One of our favourite spots on this side of town. Marshalls Mill, The Old Flax Store, Marshall St, Leeds LS11 9YJ – 0113 2430003"
"The Refectory at Northern Monk Brewery is where we work, rest and play and we welcome you to join us. The tap room features 16 keg lines, 2 cask lines... Marshalls Mill, HolbeckTelephone."
"From the team behind one of Leeds’ best music venues-cum-bars The Domino Club, is Rolands. Located on the infamous drinking destination Call Lane, Rolands has a vintage, laid back feel, and serves some of the best cocktails, and craft beers in Leeds. Head out back and upstairs for their quaint hidden sun trap of a roof terrace, for al fresco drinking at its best."

As well as boasting 36 draught lines and a delicious menu of pizza, salad and sharing platters, the quirky restaurant also has a number of shuffleboards for those of you looking for a little friendly competition."

"Little Leeds Beerhouse is a small but mighty bottle shop nestled in Brownhill & Co. A huge array of craft beers line the shelves, with local favourites from North Brewing Co. alongside cool creations from further-afield, like Ireland’s Whiplash Brewery. They also have growlers and an ever-changing selection of beers on draught, so you can get tap-fresh beer to enjoy at home."
"Originally created by chef Dominique Ansel in New York, the croissant-doughnut hybrid (cronut) caught everyone’s imaginations and spawned a succession of homages. The Alberts Schloss take on the sweet pastry is an utter delight, freshly baked in-house with a range of tempting flavours including chocolate gateaux and salted caramel with popcorn. This week, to tie-in with royal wedding fever, try the Eton mess: a golden sugar kronut with strawberry jam, vanilla cream, glazed strawberries, meringue kisses and fresh mint."
"Why:A Bavarian beer hall in Manchester might not scream breakfast or brunch to you, but this venue in fact houses its very own bakery, meaning fresh bread and pastries whenever you visit. Each day brings its own unique artisan loaf, with the weekends being reserved for an olive and thyme fougasse on Saturdays, and Sundays seeing a roasted fig and hazelnut loaf on offer. For a sweeter start to the day indulge in a morning bun which is made from croissant dough doused in cinnamon sugar and hot chocolate sauce."
"The Alpine menu will be offering savoury crepes for one day only, with two different fillings to choose from. You can either go for the black forest ham and cheese, or a sweet potato and spinach filling, both drenched in a rich cheese sauce. There is also a sweet option available - filled with chocolate praline and preserved blood orange slices."
"The Creameries’ chef-patron Mary-Ellen McTague has been a well-loved force in the Manchester food scene for a number of years now. The Creameries is situated down in Chorlton and is open from lunch to dinner serving up freshly baked breads, homemade charcuterie, local cheeses and fine wines. Oh, and that’s just the start of it."
"Established by some of the team behind the Real Junk Food Project, which used food that would go to waste."
"The Merrion Centre is a city centre stalwart that remains one of the most interesting and diverse places to go shopping in Leeds. It’s home to Jumbo Records, perfect for all your musical needs, while footie fans can make a pilgrimage to the official Leeds United and Leeds Rhinos stores. It’s a great mix of popular names – Morrisons, 3, Wilko, Iceland – and indie brands such as Chilli Shop and The Bookish Type."
"It is one of the well-known shopping centres in Leeds that has gone through many transformations over the period. You will find a wide range of stores inside with some big household names such as Home Bargains, Morrisons, Superdrug etc. My Thai, Smoke Barbecue and Bulgogi Grill are also some of the famous brands which have made strong influence there."
