"A 15-minute walk from the train station, in a former industrial zone where the warehouses are being repurposed as offices and studio spaces, this site is home to the Northern Monk Brewery Co and, on the first floor, a ruggedly handsome tap room. Naturally, Northern Monk’s beers feature prominently (long on flavour, the zesty, citrussy Eternal Session IPA was in great form) but some 20 lines include plenty of space for potent (in all senses of the word) guest beers, most of them also served in thirds. On this visit these included Kernel’s Export Stout, Cromarty Brewing’s fantastic AKA IPA and Magic Rock’s famous, if not notorious, Human Cannonball – dangerously drinkable at 9.2%."
"One of the stars of Leeds South Bank, Northern Monk Old Flax Store brewery beer garden is the perfect place to soak up the rays and a few pints of their world beer cup winning Eternal Session IPA. There’s an ever-changing selection of kitchen takeovers from the area’s best street food traders to soak up all the drinks, not to mention the train station is only minutes away. One of our favourite spots on this side of town. Marshalls Mill, The Old Flax Store, Marshall St, Leeds LS11 9YJ – 0113 2430003"

"From the team behind one of Leeds’ best music venues-cum-bars The Domino Club, is Rolands. Located on the infamous drinking destination Call Lane, Rolands has a vintage, laid back feel, and serves some of the best cocktails, and craft beers in Leeds. Head out back and upstairs for their quaint hidden sun trap of a roof terrace, for al fresco drinking at its best."
"Roland’s roof terrace is so well hidden, you’d never even know it was there. Follow the staircase from the courtyard and you’ll find yourself in a petite sun trap with room for just 30 people. Long benches and high stools line the walls with a few garden tables thrown in for good measure."

"This small shop on buzzy Tib Street is jam-packed with bottles, cans and kegs of beers from Manchester, as well as from the UK and across the globe. Brews from the inner city include neon-packaged Runaway Brewery (smoked porter, summer saison, American brown ale), Track Brewing Co. (visit its weekly brew tap events under the arches of Picadilly), and Cloudwater, which has gained a global reputation for itself over the past few of years. The friendly staff sure know their porters from their DIPAs, so make sure you pick their brains."
"Based in the heart of the Northern Quarter, Beermoth is a unique brewery compared to the others on this list as this one has two shops. One in the Northern Quarter and the other in Manchester city centre. The shop in the city centre is a belgian-style beer cafe which offers beer, food, coffee in a relaxing environment."

"Where: Liverpool Street, on an unlikely crossroads in Salford. Best Dish: Pig’s trotters with chilli, onion, spring onion and sesame. This restaurant of many names (Mr Fresh? Peking Duck?) offers a no holds barred Chinese menu with a Beijing accent, filled with gizzards, feet, tongue, lungs, kidneys, trotters and stewed chicken with mushrooms."
"Chinese is one of those foods that you never stop craving – so it’s pretty handy for us Salford students that the Peking Duck is only a 5 minute drive (or 15 minute walk) from the main campus. With unbeatable prices, the Peking Duck will satisfy for sure. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!"
"Just a few minutes outside the city centre lies Crown Chinese – they’re masters of the all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet. Yet the term buffet is slightly misleading because they bring everything to your table freshly cooked. That’s right, upon arrival, you’ll have two hours to order whatever, and however much, you like from the generous a la carte buffet menu."
"Pulling no punches, Cantonese outfit, Crown, is the Leeds home hot pots, dim sum and a selection of roast meats."
