Manchester's Best Craft Beer Bars
"Unusually colourful (its orange banquettes and Perspex back-bar give it a look of a 1980s Top of the Pops set), this Dale Street tap-house serves a mix of quality guest beers (Wild Beer, Mikeller, Burning Sky), and Beatnikz’ hop-forward brews, such as I Smash Citra and Generation IPA. The weekday cask ale deals are notable (recently pie ‘n’ a pint £5, Mon/Tues), as is Beatnikz’s ability to bag high-profile guests for its meet-the-brewer events. For instance Arbor Ales and US star Modern Times. Pint from £3.70, beatnikzrepublic.com"
"Beatnikz microbrewery is located in a railway arch in the Green Quarter, and their taproom used to be too. But they closed it last year and moved to a shiny new bar in the Northern Quarter where they’ve just introduced a beer slushie machine. Head in to enjoy their core range of beers."
"07/06/2021: We are new to toby carvery Keighley but I must say this is the best one we have been too, the staff was brilliant and the veg options were amazing, we will defiantly be returning!. 04/06/2021: Went back after 2 years but disappointed. The carvery is good and good value, but almost no choice if you don't want the carvery - we ended up having the carvery meat with an apology for a salad (just lettuce, shaved cucumber and carrots)."
"Crafting classic British roasts every day of the week, Toby Carvery presents a crowd-pleasing feast. Select from tender slow-cooked meats, a variety of vegetables and hand-ruffled potatoes (each of which are checked to ensure they're crisped and…"
"Doing lots of little things right” is a definition of perfection. And Oystercatcher – a simple seafood restaurant in Chorlton – is just that. The kitchen’s Inca grill is masterfully handled by co-owner Recep Canliisik, who churns out dishes such as char-grilled whole sea bream, and Tandoori-barbecued monkfish tail."
"This cute little neighbourhood restaurant in Chorlton specialises in super-fresh seafood and are known for grilling whole fish in their charcoal oven. The wine list is also excellent. Menus change weekly depending on what is fresh and seasonal but you can view samples on their website to get an idea."
"Credit: Mat Fascione licensed under Creative Commons for commercial use. The Airedale Heifer is as Yorkshire as it gets – there’s the name for starters and the big metal cow statue outside. You’ll find it in the picturesque village of Sandbeds, which is just a short walk from East Riddlesden Hall, a 17th-century manor house that makes for a great day out."
"Boasting exposed brick and stripped-back decor, LEAF sits in the heart of busy Portland Street and it’s acquired quite the fan base since it first opened in Liverpool. They even have their own brand of tea, which is undoubtedly the perfect companion for any good breakfast. Cocktails are served from 11am with morning-friendly options such as Bloody Marys, Espresso Martinis and Mimosas, with both full plates and light breakfast options available to scran."
"ibis Styles Manchester Portland is a nicely decorated, modern stay in the heart of the city. The hotel is located only a short walk to Piccadilly Gardens. It features charming, weather-themed rooms, on site restaurant and the bar. All the facilities boast unique design, cool details and modern furnishing."
"CFCCA is the UK leader in Chinese visual culture, with a reputation for debut solo exhibitions and a roster of internationally-renowned artists; impressive considering that, three decades ago, it was just a series of events in Manchester’s Chinatown. As Manchester’s Chinese population is second only to London’s, the centre’s heritage is particularly important; now represented in a new archive and library. Best feature: A vibrant events schedule, spanning film screenings to workshops and even Mandarin lessons"
"Centre For Chinese Contemporary Art is a unique art gallery with a year-round programme of socially engaged exhibitions, events, and artist residencies. They have over 30 years experience of working with emerging and established artists to provide a space for conversation, debate, and cross-cultural exchange. They are the go-to place to discover new artists and explore relevant global issues from different international perspectives."
"CFCCA reopens with a duo of exhibitions investigating and unpicking themes of belonging, identity and citizenship in a globalised and hyper-connected society. Housed in CFCCA’s Northern Quarter galleries, the exhibitions are just a few minutes’ walk from the Arndale Shopping Centre. Multiplicities in Flux brings together works by contemporary artists Grace Lau and Eelyn Lee in a dialogue around identity and belonging."
"About: The National Football Museum is home to over 140,000 pieces of footballing memorabilia - including the FIFA Collection. The museum explores the beautiful game through world class exhibitions and displays, looking at football from every angle, telling the stories that matter the most. Address: Urbis Building, Manchester, M4 3BG"
"Home to some of the UK’s best football teams, Manchester is also home to a museum dedicated to the nations favourite sport. Now that Maya has her heart firmly set on football, I am sure we will be visiting all the time. Located in the coolest museum building (Urbis) the museum is in the very heart of Manchester city centre."
