A Guide to Manchester's New Openings in 2021
"Unusually colourful (its orange banquettes and Perspex back-bar give it a look of a 1980s Top of the Pops set), this Dale Street tap-house serves a mix of quality guest beers (Wild Beer, Mikeller, Burning Sky), and Beatnikz’ hop-forward brews, such as I Smash Citra and Generation IPA. The weekday cask ale deals are notable (recently pie ‘n’ a pint £5, Mon/Tues), as is Beatnikz’s ability to bag high-profile guests for its meet-the-brewer events. For instance Arbor Ales and US star Modern Times. Pint from £3.70, beatnikzrepublic.com"
"Beatnikz microbrewery is located in a railway arch in the Green Quarter, and their taproom used to be too. But they closed it last year and moved to a shiny new bar in the Northern Quarter where they’ve just introduced a beer slushie machine. Head in to enjoy their core range of beers."
"There are Francophiles behind this nationwide French brasserie group – that much is obvious. Every last detail, from the rattan terrace furniture ..." Read our full review"
"Family run independent French restaurant & bar | Coffee and cake served all day | Free Wi-Fi | Children welcome"
"Pan-Asian food with an infusion of Chinese, Korean and Japanese influences, Fuku is another of Hatch’s hidden gems, offering an array of both traditional-style dishes and innovative fusions. From the classic Katsu curry and salt and pepper chicken, to triple-stacked crispy chicken burgers topped with cheese and spicy mayo – there’s a whole lot of comfort food to go at at Fuku, each dish as mouthwatering as the next. Fuku Food MCR, Hatch, 103 Oxford Rd, M1 7ED."
"I’ve been followingFuku Food on Instagram for ages and pre-lockdown they were on my list to visit, so there was no other choice for me. As you can see from the main pic, I ordered the Hot Loaded Fries and they tasted so good!. Expect to find Japanese katsu curry dishes, Korean Fried Chicken, classic salt & pepper dishes and more."
"OKitchen Bar & Restaurant is situated in Didsbury Village in South Manchester, providing Korean and Japanese cuisine alongside a cocktail bar that offers a wide variety of drinks for brunch and dinner. They are open from Monday through Sunday."
"This upmarket restaurant in Alderley Edge offers a distinctive blend of traditional Chinese cuisine and modern innovation. They will be welcoming in the Year Of The Pig with a banquet menu (£45pp), between 5-28 February, including dim sum, XO King prawns and 'Victor Yu's Crispy Aromatic Duck Leg & Pancakes' (more here). Yu, London Rd, Alderley Edge SK9 7QD Tel: 01625 569922"
"Magical rooftop bar and restaurant in central Manchester with the motto 'Drink and dine, rain or shine'. Set over three floors, the motto is extra true for the second floor large and more formal restaurant, that comes with an all year alfresco terrace and bar. Open from lunch through dinner, the restaurant and bar serves internationally inspired classics, where the charcoal grill is the main feature, along with a full page of different G&T's and well-crafted signature cocktails."
"Despite having the most unimaginative name in the city, The Restaurant Bar and Grill has held its own over the years as the city has changed unrecognisably around it. With a crowd-pleasing but creative menu featuring all the steak and seafood you'd expect, the "sky garden" was given a massive cash injection in 2012 and is always packed. It might well have the comfiest seats of all roof gardens in Manchester too."
"Address: Ridgefield House, 14 John Dalton St, Manchester M2 6JR. Phone number: 0161 839 1999. Price: £25 per person + price of brunch dish"
