Manchester's Best Craft Beer Bars
"Unusually colourful (its orange banquettes and Perspex back-bar give it a look of a 1980s Top of the Pops set), this Dale Street tap-house serves a mix of quality guest beers (Wild Beer, Mikeller, Burning Sky), and Beatnikz’ hop-forward brews, such as I Smash Citra and Generation IPA. The weekday cask ale deals are notable (recently pie ‘n’ a pint £5, Mon/Tues), as is Beatnikz’s ability to bag high-profile guests for its meet-the-brewer events. For instance Arbor Ales and US star Modern Times. Pint from £3.70, beatnikzrepublic.com"
"Beatnikz microbrewery is located in a railway arch in the Green Quarter, and their taproom used to be too. But they closed it last year and moved to a shiny new bar in the Northern Quarter where they’ve just introduced a beer slushie machine. Head in to enjoy their core range of beers."
"The mullioned windows, stone flags and thick walls of the ancient inn – deep-set in stunning scenery of the Yorkshire Dales and close to Bolton Abbey – drip authentic character and the great long bar in the taproom is a welcoming rallying point for tired walkers and hungry guests. The hotel’s fires, snugs and carpeted little rooms may flirt with the chintzy on occasion, but they provide the perfect places to retreat and relax with views over the river and up the fells. The restaurant is a pleasure to eat in; with oak floors and panelling, a log-burning stove and, in places, views of the river, it’s a great spot to enjoy locally sourced dishes."
"Buile Hill Park is, for many, the pillar of the Salford community. Situated in Seedley and Pendleton, it is the largest park in the city, and also the second oldest behind Peel Park. The park as we know it today was opened in 1903 when, what was known as Seedley Park, and the grounds of Buile Hill house were joined together by the closure of the ‘dog entry’ path which had separated them."
"Proximal to the centre of the city, this public park is one of the finest Victorian parklands in the North West. Opened in 1861 and is listed as Grade II, this municipal park boasts of a Japanese Garden with ornamental plants and astounding water features. Other interesting attractions include the Derby Walk, The Belvedere, Ribble Walk and Boar War Memorial on Board Walk."
"Opposite the Lowry on the south side of the Manchester Ship Canal in Trafford Park is one of five branches for the Imperial War Museum, opened in 2002. This remarkable building, with three interlocking metallic shards (invoking air, earth and water), was designed by Daniel Libeskind and intended to induce a feeling of disorientation apt for war. The entrance is in the 55-metre-high “air shard”, while the permanent exhibition is on the first floor in the “earth shard”."
"The Imperial War Museum North is another Salford attraction that’s most definitely worth a visit. It’s within walking distance of The Lowry so you could easily combine the two for a day out in Greater Manchester. The focus of the museum is modern conflicts and the building itself was designed to purposefully confuse and unsettle visitors through illogical angles and leaning floors."
"People’s History Museum, Left Bank, Spinningfields, Manchester, M3 3ER - Visit now. The national museum of democracy couldn’t have a better home than the radical city of Manchester, birthplace of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) and universal suffrage. PHM is now open, to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, they have introduced an online registration system for visitors to select a date and time to visit."
"The People's History Museum, which sits right on the River Irwell on the border of Salford and Manchester, will fully reopen on May 19. This will be an exciting one to watch as it launches its brand new cafe offering in partnership with zero-waste enterprise Open Kitchen. Reopening next week will be the main galleries, the banner exhibition, the changing exhibitions gallery, the shop, and the archive and study centre."
"A brand new “all day dining and drinking” outdoor terrace is opening up at Ducie Street Warehouse this week, and while bookings are being taken, walk-in service is also expected, so you can find menus, opening times and more information via the website here. You can also find more information about some of the events happening here."
"With it Tex-Mex menu, it is a fantastic restaurant and bar which hosts 5 full length ten pin bowling lanes within the same venue, so you can eat, drink and play all within the same building. Part of Black Dog Ballroom, Dog Bowl is a quirky and unique venue that’s guaranteed to add a little fun to your Manchester stag weekend…. Nothing beats a little competitiveness between friends,"
"Keep things fun and casual on a quirky Manchester date with Dog Bowl. Not only can you knock back craft beers and ample American bites, their state of the art bowling alleys are sure to keep you busy (and a little competitive) well on into the night."
"With half price offers for students, this is a date night spot that you’ve just got to try. Loser buys the next round of drinks?. View this post on Instagram"
