"Created by a diversion of the River Don, Kelham is a manmade island over 900 years old. Kelham Island is today the home of the industrial museum in Sheffield, showcasing and documenting centuries of scientific and industrial innovation in the city. The museum contains reconstructed workshops, functional 19th-century steam engines, a vast photographic collection and numerous artefacts representing a significant industrial history that has an impact on the whole world."
"The Clayton Hall Living History Museum dates back to the 15th century and you will therefore not see the global moated medieval buildings. The Museum is in the Grade II category. Volunteers have restored it back to its original look and it is now open to the public twice a month."
"Dress up as a Victorian, visit several rooms, have lunch in the café, or take part in a guided tour. A really fun way to learn about Victorian and Mancunian history. Highly recommended for children, book, music and history lovers."
"This is another opening that will be the talk of the town when it reopens, as the Manchester Jewish Museum unveils its £6m transformation to the public for the first time. You'll have to be patient though - the Chetham Hill venue won't open until July 2, when it kicks things off with a MIF co-commissioned installation. General admission tickets will be available soon at manchesterjewishmuseum.com."
"The Manchester Jewish Museum is the only Jewish museum you will find out of London. The Victorian building is Grade II listed and was built in 1874. It is, therefore, the oldest synagogue in Manchester."
"One of England's most impressive collections of sculpture is scattered across the formidable 18th-century estate of Bretton Park, 200-odd hectares of lawns, fields and trees. A bit like the art world's equivalent of a safari park, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park showcases the work of dozens of sculptors both national and international. The park is partly a homage to local heroes Barbara Hepworth (1903−75), who was born in Wakefield, and Henry Moore (1898−1986), though more of their works are on display at the Hepworth Wakefield."
"Philips Park, Prestwich is also the home of Bury’s first mountain bike trail and first Countryside Centre. The Environmental Summer Play Scheme is based at the Barn Countryside Centre and uses various locations around the LNR. The playscheme offers local children the chance to experience the environment and its wildlife on their doorstep with a varied programme of activities including pond dipping, mini-beast safaris and environmental games."

"You cannot have a list of the best parks in Manchester and not include Vimto Park. You may or may not know, but the beloved drink’s birthplace is this great city. Vimto Park is next to the University of Manchester and is home to a Vimto monument."
