The vast range of mouth watering meats are cooked on an open fire and then carved at the table right in front of you, where you can pick how much you want. "I swear that the good people of Manchester were waiting for me to leave… I’d been visiting for the inaugural Cup North back in 2014 and no sooner had I left, than it seemed a slew of new coffee shops opened, led by Federal Café & Bar, which, by the way, does what it says on the tin. By day, it’s a café, while by night, it morphs into a bar, although, as I discovered, the staff will happily serve you coffee long into the night (and, I suspect, alcohol during the day). The coffee side of the equation is handled by Kiwi transplants, Ozone, supplying the Hodson blend and decaf on espresso, with a couple of single-origins on pour-over, impressive when you consider the (lack of) available space."
"Having conquered Northern Quarter with their Aussie-style brunch bowls, Federal has opened another charming spot in Deansgate. Expect the same easy breezy vibes, alongside healthy plates that include a winning banana bread."
"City-centre favourite Federal offers an all-day brunch until 6pm, as well as a range of sandwiches, bagels and amazing coffee. We recommend The Turkish Eggs. View this post on Instagram"
"Don’t be put off by the surroundings and the decor because what key Lime Coffee lacks in personality it makes up for with its fresh leaf teas, coffees and food. They sell a surprisingly large range of vegan cakes and the cafe has a sunny disposition opposite Lime Street Station. The cafe has some comfy seating to the back wall and in the windows."
"Liverpool has such a fantastically friendly community as this cool café goes to show. This independent coffee shop serves freshly prepared brekkie… all day!. They have an American style all-day brunch with lots of gluten-free and veggie-friendly options."
"After the Grade II listed building The Guildhall was made redundant, a Chester-based couple had a light-bulb moment and turned the space into a bar!. This luxurious bar/nightclub has kept it’s original stained-glass windows and stone arches merged together with modern décor and cosy booths. As for Chester nightclubs, The Guild is open until late and a fab choice for larger groups as the tall ceilings and spacious dancefloor means there’s room for everyone to party."
"Set in the historic heart of town is the Storyhouse building which houses, not only a library and restaurant but a theater and cinema too. A very popular place, it puts on lots of excellent plays and performances with countless cultural events and films also shown during the year. Since its opening in 1936 as an Odeon cinema, the Art Deco building has been at the center of cultural life in the city."
"Storyhouse is Chester’s theatre, cinema and arts centre housed in a rejuvenated 1930s art deco Odeon cinema building. The Storyhouse’s theatre transforms from an 800 seat proscenium (the Touring Stage) to a 500 seat thrust (the Storyhouse stage)."
"Storyhouse is the place to visit to get your arts and culture fix, including a library, theatre, cinema, community hub, cultural centre and restaurant. Take a look at what events are coming up during your stay."
"The May Blitz of 1941 saw St Luke’s church forever changed when a bomb landed right on top of it’s roof. Over time, the city has lovingly restored it back to life and it now plays host to everything from weddings, to gigs, to farmers markets and cinema screenings. The church itself and the gardens around it are a total treat for the eye."
"St Luke’s Church, or the Bombed Out Church to the locals, sits proudly at the top of Bold Street and is a great spot for a photograph, especially if you get to head inside. Known as the Bombed Out Church because it no longer has a roof, it makes for an interesting photo for the collection. View this post on Instagram"
"More commonly known as 'the bombed out church' St Luke’s was destroyed during the Blitz of World War II. With no ceiling, and plants now growing inside, it is a real place of tranquility in the centre of the city and serves as a memorial to those who lost their lives during the war."
