"This cosy café on Edge Street in the Northern Quarter is known for its snug interior, quirky detailing and incredible-looking cakes. If you’re looking for sweet treats to photograph, you’ll find it hard to select just one cake from their selection, so it’s a good idea to bring a couple of friends with you. And don’t get too stuck into photographing the food that you forget to capture all of the eclectic details, such as their neon pink signs."
"Designed to make you feel right at home, Home Sweet Home is open until 11pm, making it a nice late-night option for coffee lovers. Their trademark dish is the Cheeseburger Toastie, a combination of two of the nation’s favourite dishes. Edge Street, Northern Quarter, Manchester M4 1HE@HomeSweetHomeNQ / homesweethomenq.com"
"This place really does feel like home, or rather an American Grandma’s home. It’s Grandma in the USA, in Manchester. Floral wallpaper, little framed pictures dotted on the wall, the smell of fresh baking; you feel welcome as soon as you step through the door."
"With the main space in the Northern Quarter and a funky outpost in one of Hatch’s shipping containers, this sleek coffee shop is an ode to Scandinavia. The owners are obsessed with all things Nordic (particularly Reykjavik), so opened this ode to the region complete with the house Nordic Style espresso (roasted by Clifton Coffee in Bristol), cosy ‘hygge’ vibes and trendy baristas. At the Oxford Road shop, there’s a more contemporary Scandinavian them, with a turquoise coffee machine, plenty of blonde wood and funky grey tiles create a calm backdrop to enjoy your coffee, or purchase one of the handy reusable cups and get an iced coffee to take away."
"If you’re on the look out for fresh artisan coffee in minimalist, Nordic-inspired surroundings, then stark, hipster hangout Takk is probably the place for you. Undoubtedly a NQ favourite, the coffee at Takk is just as good as the atmosphere, serving ‘North Projekt’ – a Bristol-roasted Nordic Style espresso that forms the basis of all their drinks. It’s definitely a brew to keep the mind sharp, but I heard they feature regular guest espresso too!"
"Restaurants Coffeeshops. Takk is a love letter to scandi coffee houses, and it’s been serving up hygge vibes to savvy Mancunians for years. They now have three outlets across the city, but we still love their Northern Quarter branch the most."
"As the name indicates, Forge Bakehouse is a bakery, so any brunch item you're getting that involves bread will be about as fresh and tasty as it's possible to get. They do brunch with a twist, such as their Aloo Sabzi Baked Eggs. Or if you have a sweet tooth then the pictured French toast with banana, raspberry, peanut brittle, chocolate sauce, and peanut mascarpone may well be for you."
"After an upsizing of premises after the popularity of their original bakery, Forge Bakehouse have recently opened a café within their new location. Despite its infancy it's already become a favourite breakfast spot because of such dishes as their Huevos Rancheros baked eggs and french toast. Also, any bread they don't sell from their bakery goes to feed the pigs at the local city farm."
"Just out of the city centre Forge Bakehouse is a Sheffield institution, and a place we’d recommend you should head to on a regular basis (if you’ve not been there before, what are you doing?. Get down there immediately!"
"The name is somewhat deceptive; although these guys know how to make a good brew, they are also highly trained baristas, and know how to serve up an awesome coffee. The pastries, and baked goods on offer are delicious, as are the sandwiches, which you can enjoy warm, or cold. With 2 seater tables, a large centre wooden table, high top bar, and an outdoor area, find your favourite spot, and relax."
"One of the OG’s of the Northern Quarter craft coffee scene, North Tea Power have been tucked away on Tib Street since 2010. Home to proper coffee, proper brunch, great cakes and cosy coffee shop vibes. Their retail shelves are a coffee lover’s dream, stocked up with all the gadgets and accessories you need to make a decent brew at home."
"North Tea Power, in the centre of Manchester, is dead easy to find. Start at the Market Street tram stop. Turn your back on the Costa and Nero that face you as you step off the tram and gird your loins when you see the Starbucks on the other side of the road."
"23/05/2021: Popped in here to basically have a change from the hotel breakfasts we had had for a few days and pleased we did. Both our breakfasts were good - a bacon, egg and cheese bagel and a bacon bap with scrambled egg, helped down by a coffee and a cup of tea. A plus though is that Zinc is not only a cafe but a gift shop as well, having a fine quality selection of such and a great array of greeting cards, a few of which we purchased!"
"If one place personifies the bohemian feel of Manchester's Northern Quarter, Evelyn’s Cafe Bar is it. With extensive breakfast, day, evening and Sunday menus, one visit won't be enough to enjoy all the amazing food available here. All produce is prepared with fresh ingredients, including a plethora of vegan and and gluten free options."
"Evelyn’s Cafe Bar, G18 Tib Street, Manchester, M4 1NB - Visit now. Casual, friendly and very, very comfortable, Evelyn’s championed great breakfast in Manchester when it was set up a few years ago. From healthy Buddha bowls and smoothies to indulgent breakfasts of steak and eggs."
"Situated right on the Monsal Trail, the hot chocolates here topped with marshmallow and whipped cream are a perfect treat after a cycle. There’s also an outdoor play area, and a covered outdoor seating area. Free parking directly outside the cafe."
"You can’t write about the top 10 places for anything in Sheffield and not mention somewhere on Eccy (Ecclesall) Road. The Amaro lounge is a chain, but their quirky interior almost makes it feel like you’re in your own living room. There are plenty of options to suit all dietary needs, including gluten-free, and they have quite a creative brunch menu."
"La Maison restaurant in the heart of leafy Sale Moor Village to the southwest of Manchester is a classic French fine dining restaurant with a reputation ..."
"Hidden behind a curtain in a corner of the grand lobby of the Midland Hotel, there’s more than a feel of Alice in Wonderland as you are transported through mirrored doors into the dining room of The French. Soft grey and sage green tones give everything a muted luxurious feel and there are two huge cylindrical chandeliers which throw light back and forth via the mirrored panelling around the room. Chef Adam Reid’s cooking is inventive and playful but executed with real precision and flair."
"Set in the iconic Midland Hotel, the cosy booths, stylish décor and relaxed atmosphere of The French by Simon Rogan makes for an opulent date night. Worthy of any special occasion, quality food is at the heart of this operation with meticulously crafted tasting menus. The French’s absent Michelin star is well documented, but the infamous missing star isn’t all bad - diners can experience Michelin standard food without the waiting lists and price tag."
