"Another Northern Quarter-based independent cafe where I have spent (and continue to spend) many many many hours is Foundation Coffee. Not only is it a perfect place to work or study, but they also serve a great breakfast, brunch and lunch – making Foundation Coffee a perfect place to meet up with a friend as well as getting some stuff done. It’s one of the coffee shops I always take people to when I’m showing them around Manchester because I feel like it captures the atmosphere of the Northern Quarter really well."
"With two spots in the city, one in the heart of the Northern Quarter and one on Whitworth Street, Foundation is quickly taking over Manchester’s speciality coffee scene. The Northern Quarter spot is vast, and whether you’re shopping or browsing one of the city’s central galleries, you’re probably no more than ten minutes walk away. Choose your brew (if you can) from the huge menu and grab some brunch or a bake from the counter while you wait for the rain to pass."
"Rather aptly admitting that “coffee is everything” and preparing each cup to perfection, Foundation Coffee House still has the doors to its Northern Quarter premises open this weekend, so you can pop in and grab yourself a takeout brew while you’re passing. Sevendale House, Lever Street, Manchester M1 1JB. You can find more information via the Foundation Coffee House website here."
"A cosy and friendly café located down Cannon Street, Ravenous boasts an ample selection of breakfast and lunch options to enjoy alongside smoothies and fruit juices. The accommodating staff are more than happy to cater for your tastes and dietary requirements, with a variety of seriously tasty vegan options available, including a vegan full English breakfast."
"If you’re after some light refreshment, then the many cafes dotted about Preston City Centre will provide you with exactly what you need. From famous coffee house retailers to an interesting mix of inviting independents, you most certainly won't be stuck for choice."

"Cicchetti, Fumo and San Carlo itself are all wonderful choices for a special romantic evening. Cicchetti has a lovely marble bar that you can sit at whilst you nibble on small plates, whilst Fumo’s beautiful art deco interior is the perfect setting for a special date. And for lovers of traditional Italian food, you can’t go wrong at San Carlo."
"This was really well priced and had the best flavour and presentation. They even gave me more than one scoop. The restaurant uses traditional techniques to make their sorbet and it works for them."
"The Clayton Hall Living History Museum dates back to the 15th century and you will therefore not see the global moated medieval buildings. The Museum is in the Grade II category. Volunteers have restored it back to its original look and it is now open to the public twice a month."
"Dress up as a Victorian, visit several rooms, have lunch in the café, or take part in a guided tour. A really fun way to learn about Victorian and Mancunian history. Highly recommended for children, book, music and history lovers."
