"This 13th-century church about a mile north of Macclesfield is the fourth church on this site. But what’s unusual is that the third church is still here, out among Medieval yew trees. There’s a Norman Romanesque chapel in the churchyard, dating to the 12th century, with semi-circular door and window arches and weathered but visible tympanum relief and lozenge patterns in the archivolts."
"A short stroll from Preston city centre, St Walburge's Church is a must visit for fans of history, heritage, and architecture. The church opened in 1854 and boasts the tallest spire of any parish church in England. The Roman Catholic Church is a sight to behold from both the outside and the inside."
"The most well-known Cantonese restaurant in Manchester, the Yang Sing recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. To celebrate the Year of the Pig, they have come up with a special set banquet on Sunday 10th February (£46pp), all accompanied by a martial arts demonstration, firecrackers and a private lion dance. Their banquet dishes win the award for the most poetic names and include ‘double dish prosperity toss’ as well as ‘longevity noodles’ (more here).Yang Sing, Canton House, 34 Princess Street, Manchester, M1 4JY. "Cantonese cooking doesn’t come much more authentic than Yang Sing. Serving dim sum for 30 years, the chefs here know what they’re doing, so you’re in for a treat. Check out the good-value banqueting options."

"This adorable Green Flag garden is the vestige of an estate founded in South Warrington in the 1830s. The house was occupied by three generations of the Parr family, but was demolished in 1970 after years of neglect. In spite of the disuse, the walled garden survived and is now as beautiful as ever, with three ponds, herbaceous borders, fruit espaliers and vegetable plots."
"Historic kitchen & pleasure gardens with ponds, paved pathways & a Victorian greenhouse. Address : Witherwin Avenue Grappenhall, South Warrington WA4 3DS, United Kingdom"
"Founded in 1917, this large green space - part botanical garden and part wildlife habitat - is an engaging contrast to the busy city center. There are numerous walking trails on the property, as well as regular guided "health" walks. Popular things to do here include enjoying a stroll or picnic, or opting for more strenuous activities, such as tennis, rugby, or football."
"Fletcher Moss Park is a wide network of paths around the area around the Gardens, through Stenner Woods, round Millgate Fields, and along the river Mersey. Much of the area is a Local Nature reserve and there is a variety of wildlife to see and vistas to enjoy. At first, finding your way around can be a little confusing, and a map of the area might help."
"In the Didsbury area of South Manchester you’ll find Fletcher Moss Park and Botanical Gardens. Autumn in Fletcher Moss Park. The park is famous for its amazing rock gardens, where a variety of interesting plants and shrubs thrive in microclimates within the shelter provided by the rocks."
