The Great Liverpool Bake Off
"The Manchester Doughnut Company was started by local chef Ed Beech seeking to fill a gap in the market for more eclectic donut flavours. Handmade in small batches, Ed creates flavour combinations such as white chocolate and pumpkin donuts, butterscotch and bourbon donuts and donuts topped with Crunchy Nut Cereals!. The secret to these donuts is the slow proving process used to make the dough (although covering them in butterscotch once they’ve been fried can’t hurt either eh?) You can find these beauties at The King’s Arms, and at The Makers Market in Spinningfields and Didsbury every month."
"Serving up coffee, doughnuts and more, Siop Shop has made the decision to offer a collection of outdoor tables for walk-ins only on a first-come-first-served basis from this week, so you can find menus, opening times and more information on the website here."
"A post shared by The Wild Loaf (@the_wild_loaf) on Feb 13, 2019 at 3:02am PST. Tucked away just off Hardman Street, The Wild Loaf micro-bakery is a real hidden gem of Liverpool. Their doughnuts are mini marvels filled with heavenly flavour combination and our favourites are topped with delicious fresh fruit and cream."
"Liverpool is a city of makers and dreamers and every now and then, those two come together in fantastic fashion. Jessica Doyle is an art student by trade, but is now less Jackson Pollock and more sourdough. If you see one of her loaves, you can see her degree wasn’t wasted, they’re pure art in their very own right."
"This mico-bakery specialises in naturally leavened organic sourdough breads, extravagant doughnuts and beautiful sandwiches. They are currently only operating an online delivery service which you can find out more about on their website. View this post on Instagram"
"A Tafford Centre pit stop isn’t the same without some warm topped cookie dough!. My Cookie Dough has reopened at the shopping centre – returning with a large list of flavours to try from Red Velvet to Fudge & Honeycomb (which you can customise by adding your own choice of toppings and ice cream). My Cookie Dough also launched a Build Your Own kit which you can have delivered straight to your doorstep containing all the ingredients you need to make enjoy your My Cookie Dough experience at home."
"Taking the humble traybake to new heights, My Cookie Dough is among the best dessert shops in Manchester. Their Slutty Brownie stacks are a mouthwatering mess of chocolate brownie, crushed Oreos and their house cookie mix, served up as chunky slabs and coated in a hefty drizzle of Nutella. With locations at both the Trafford Centre and the Arndale, you won't have to travel far to get your hands on these bad boys."
"🍰 Seriously gooey hot cookie dough, with tons of topping options to choose from including Nutella, Biscoff, Red Velvet, Kinder and even Strawberry Cheesecake."
"Lupo Caffè Italiano, located at the Boat Shed, Exchange Quay, serves award-winning Italian coffee. Italian-flavours continue to run through its daily-changing menu which has previous included crostatina with nutella, stuffed peppers and pistachio, and white chocolate muffins. The cafe also makes Italian birthday cakes with custom designs."
"I know this list is based around what and where to eat in Liverpool, but I thought I’d mention this just because of how popular it is. Pretty much everywhere you go these days you can find somewhere selling craft beer, and Liverpool’s not really any different. We’ve got lots of places for a good drink, but the Cains Brewery seems to be the favorite of just about everyone in Liverpool at the minute."
"It's one of the most up-and-coming areas in the city and it's easy to see why when you wander around. There is a whole host of new bars, pubs and venues open across the village which was once derelict for many years. On a hot day, all the venues put out seating outside, including the Peaky Blinders bar and the Baltic Market."
"Another must-visit in the Cains Brewery Village, this alehouse is the very definition of a hidden gem. The Brewery Tap was bought by Mikhail Hotel, who wanted ‘in’ on the bright future of the happening brewery village. It’s the perfect place to head for a hoppy pale ale."
"Organised by the Ashmolean Museum, which holds a world class collection of over 200 prints made by Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn, it will present the artist as an unrivalled storyteller through a selection of around 50 outstanding prints, dating from 1630 to the late 1650s. Widely hailed as the greatest painter of the Dutch Golden Age, Rembrandt was also one of the most innovative and experimental printmakers of the 17th century, and the works displayed at the Lady Lever will cover a varied selection of subjects including intense self-portraits, atmospheric landscapes, intimate family portraits, biblical stories and confronting nude studies. June 1 to September 15, 2019"
"A grand focal point in the picturesque village of Port Sunlight, this gallery is named after Lady Elizabeth Lever, the wife of Lord William Lever, a Victorian-era entrepreneur who founded the village to house his factory workers. Its collection boasts some of the 19th century’s most decorative arts. Selected by Lord Lever for exhibits at the gallery, it is still considered to have some, if not the best works displayed to the public from his own art collection."
"Okay, so it’s not strictly in Liverpool, but the Wirral is close enough. Founded by William Hesketh Lever (1851-1925), the Lady Lever Art Gallery is dedicated to his wife Elizabeth and still features a large offering from his personal art collection, including the best collection of Wedgwood Jasperware in the world."
"Having opened in 2011, The Museum of Liverpool is one of the youngest in the city. Devoted to the history of the city it is the world's first national museum to be dedicated to a regional city. From exhibitions on The Beatles to the secret life of Pembroke Place, this museum is perfect is you are looking to learn much more about the city you are staying in."
"One of the more recent additions to the museum scene is the Museum of Liverpool. Having only been opened in 2011, this is a great museum to visit – and it’s free!. The modern building took over the former Museum of Liverpool Life and can be found right on the waterfront."
"This wonderful museum showcases Liverpool’s amazing contribution to music, sports, and history in general. There is always something for you and your loved one to enjoy here. The museum of Liverpool will not charge you to enter."
"Travel back in time to the industrial revolution at the Quarry Bank Mill. Oozing with heritage, you can experience the ‘sounds and smells’ of steam and water-powered engines, explore the cotton mill to learn about spinning, weaving, the production of material, and the history of the textile industry, tour the Apprentice House for a glimpse into the lives of pauper children, stroll the beautiful gardens, or walk the Styal Estate, filled with woodlands and streams. Interactive, engaging, and educational, the museum exhibits and friendly and knowledgeable staff make Quarry Bank Mill a great day out for all ages."
"Chester Market won best small indoor market at the Great British market awards 2020 and we couldn’t be more proud!. It boasts a wonderful variety of unusual and traditional stalls you’re unlikely to find on the high street alongside an awesome range of delicious and nutritious food options with a central dining area perfectly situated for people watching. If you’re feeling like a glass of wine whilst browsing what the market has to offer, Vinological is a very popular independent wine merchant, deli and wine bar offering high quality wines by the glass or bottle at great value prices."
"Open Monday to Saturday, Chester Market is Chester’s only street food hub. Enjoy cuisines from across the globe or a refreshing craft beer in a relaxed, communal setting; or grab yourself some locally sourced fresh food from the local fishmonger and butcher. You can also do a spot of shopping for more than just food and drink, with everything from books and vinyl to clothing and footwear."
