"A New York Italian-inspired family restaurant and bar, Frankie & Benny's Preston transports diners back to 1950s America. In typical stateside fashion, find a bustling open kitchen and plush booth seating in the dining room, along with 1950's-style…"
"A failsafe and firm favorite with lovebirds is Malmaison, easily one of the most romantic hotels in Manchester. The hotel is steeped in history; it was formerly a 19th-century cotton warehouse and a Victorian dolls’ hospital later. Glittering silver walls, red velvet sofas, and white-and-black tile floors greet you as you enter."

"I swear that the good people of Manchester were waiting for me to leave… I’d been visiting for the inaugural Cup North back in 2014 and no sooner had I left, than it seemed a slew of new coffee shops opened, led by Federal Café & Bar, which, by the way, does what it says on the tin. By day, it’s a café, while by night, it morphs into a bar, although, as I discovered, the staff will happily serve you coffee long into the night (and, I suspect, alcohol during the day). The coffee side of the equation is handled by Kiwi transplants, Ozone, supplying the Hodson blend and decaf on espresso, with a couple of single-origins on pour-over, impressive when you consider the (lack of) available space."
"Situated just along from the Arndale, this Northern Quarter cafe is perfect for a healthy shopping break. It features all of our favourite kinds of healthy food, such as banana bread (well, it does contain fruit), smashed avocado and French toast. It’s also ranked 11/1,752 restaurants in Manchester on TripAdvisor, so we really think we’re onto a winner with this one!"
"City-centre favourite Federal offers an all-day brunch until 6pm, as well as a range of sandwiches, bagels and amazing coffee. We recommend The Turkish Eggs. View this post on Instagram"
"A fantastic cafe with a couple of locations in the city, Federal was founded by an English and Portuguese couple that have created an Australian-Esque brunch experience. The sexy vibes and laid back culture make federal a perfect way to spend a couple of hours on a rainy Manchester weekend. They have an extensive breakfast and brunch menu which includes a wonderful mix of great homemade food and coffee from Ozone coffee roasters in London."
"Federal Cafe, Basil Chambers, 9 Nicholas Croft, Manchester, Greater Manchester, M4 1EY - Visit now. A New Zealand and Australian style café with incredible coffee, brunch, drinks and lunch options (plus: nice interior design)."
"One of the Northern Quarters coolest brunch spots, Federal Cafe & Bar is bringing a little Australian attitude to your feasting. Proving they know a thing or two about early mornings, this place will keep you coming back for banana bread, omelettes, Turkish eggs and bagels."
"Since opening their doors in November 2015, Hope Mill Theatre has become one of the most successful independent venues in England. Located in Ancoats, they produce full scale musicals from their Grade II listed former mill. The theatre will be reopening this summer, as well as hosting Hope Fest, an outdoor arts and culture festival."
"This wonderful independent venue, located out in New Islington, was one of the few theatres that managed to reopen last year after lockdown. It'll be back again with a reduced capacity and socially distanced seating for a Meet Me At Dawn, from HER Productions. You can get tickets at hopemilltheatre.co.uk."
