"Apart from their regular diner menu (which is filled with all things deliciously fried, greasy diner style), the desserts and milkshakes are the winners that’ll make you feel right at home!. And just when you think it’s just another American diner, they’ll hit you with three-tier cakes that have icing and chocolate cookies piled on top, they hit you with sugar-dusted mountain high stacks of bacon and waffles drenched in maple syrup!. But the thing that sets HSH apart from other dessert places?"
"This cosy café on Edge Street in the Northern Quarter is known for its snug interior, quirky detailing and incredible-looking cakes. If you’re looking for sweet treats to photograph, you’ll find it hard to select just one cake from their selection, so it’s a good idea to bring a couple of friends with you. And don’t get too stuck into photographing the food that you forget to capture all of the eclectic details, such as their neon pink signs."
"From the towering cakes to the boozy milkshakes, Home Sweet Home is a must for anyone with a sweet tooth. The American-inspired brunch restaurant will wipe away any morning blues with its titan breakfasts; opt for pancake stacks with a breakfast cocktail thrown in for good measure."
"Tamper pride themselves on bringing the best of New Zealand’s culture to Sheffield, and I won’t lie, they do it pretty well. They’re located right between the Sheffield Hallam Owen and Cantor building, so even if you want to go mid-week for a quick catch up brunch with coursemates, you don’t have to wander far (if you go to Hallam that is!). Sometimes the worry with brunch is that it can be quite pricey, but I’d say Tamper is student-budget-friendly."
"A pioneer of the Kiwi cafe culture dominating Britain's Brunch scene, Tamper champions the finest coffee and food, the former of which is sourced from far-flung countries like Colombia, India, Peru and more. Trying authentic New Zealand dishes is a must: start with mince on toast or 'The Big Kiwi', essentially a Full English with dukkah corn cobs and bubble & squeak. Click here for more info"
"Sheffield city centre had never seen such expertly poured flat whites and long blacks until this small but perfectly formed New Zealand coffee house came along in 2011."
"This cute little venue on Aberdeen Court is perfect for meeting up with university pals for a catch up, with a large variety of different coffees on offer. The best news is, Steam Yard do a coffee and a doughnut deal for just £3, what more could you want?. Steam Yard are well known for their ‘cro-nut’ which is basically a combination of an American doughnut and a croissant, filled with flavoured cream and topped with chocolate and honeycomb, popcorn fruit and cream!"
"If you’re looking for a stopover for a quick coffee and a croissant in the morning, this bakery turned café has everything a coffeeholic would ask for. Make sure you visit during non-peak times as it can get quite busy during lunch and breakfast hours. Try the tiffin, it’s one of the best bakes they have to offer."
"With the main space in the Northern Quarter and a funky outpost in one of Hatch’s shipping containers, this sleek coffee shop is an ode to Scandinavia. The owners are obsessed with all things Nordic (particularly Reykjavik), so opened this ode to the region complete with the house Nordic Style espresso (roasted by Clifton Coffee in Bristol), cosy ‘hygge’ vibes and trendy baristas. At the Oxford Road shop, there’s a more contemporary Scandinavian them, with a turquoise coffee machine, plenty of blonde wood and funky grey tiles create a calm backdrop to enjoy your coffee, or purchase one of the handy reusable cups and get an iced coffee to take away."

"Takk is a simple room in the Northern Quarter that’s been pushing the Manchester coffee scene forward for years. Stripped backbenches and a room full of co-workers sipping drinks from their big wholesome mugs. Great simple breakfast options too."

"Toasties are the ultimate convenience food, all you need is bread, cheese and fire and you’ve got yourself a tasty sandwich. Frankie’s Toasties, the UK’s first toastie restaurant, has opened in Manchester, offering ‘straight up’ toasties with a selection of outrageously good fillings, including Nutella, Supernoodles, alphabet spaghetti and loads more. 98a Portland St, M1 4GX."
"Seed & Cherry in the trendy Northern Quarter offers a unique artisan coffee experience. Alongside this, you can enjoy breakfast or brunch which includes a variety of healthy and creative recipes served as small plates. Its unique menu means you can try a variety of European and Mediterranean style savoury brunch dishes and still have room for its famous French toast."
"From the team behind Brewski comes Manchester's first Chicago deep-dish pizza restarurant. Pizza dough here is made with garlic butter and parmesan, then stuffed to the brim with oozy mozzarella, marinara sauce and all sorts of meaty toppings. They've been open for takeaway for a few months but will officially open the doors to their Mosley Street restaurant on May 19."
