Top things to do in Sheffield
"About: Born from a love of good simple food and drink, Home Sweet Home is an American style cafe and Kitchen situated in the city's Northern Quarter. Stop by for your favourite home comfort foods and over the top indulgent delights. All sweet and savoury treats are freshly prepared, baked, and brewed in house daily."
"From the towering cakes to the boozy milkshakes, Home Sweet Home is a must for anyone with a sweet tooth. The American-inspired brunch restaurant will wipe away any morning blues with its titan breakfasts; opt for pancake stacks with a breakfast cocktail thrown in for good measure."
"As the name indicates, the café is best suited to give you the perfect vibe of being at home. If you are looking for late-night coffee shops in Manchester city centre, then you are good to go here. Along with the yummy coffees, the signature dish is cheeseburger toasties."
"A photo posted by Brunch and Bananas (@brunchandbananas) on Jan 29, 2017 at 3:43am PST. Bringing the best of Kiwi cafe culture to the Steel City, Tamper Coffee is a bit of a Sheffield institution these days, and now has two locations just 10 minutes apart. Their healthy and modern yet totally tempting brunch menu is great for vegetarians, and even has a few options for vegans."
"This cute little venue on Aberdeen Court is perfect for meeting up with university pals for a catch up, with a large variety of different coffees on offer. The best news is, Steam Yard do a coffee and a doughnut deal for just £3, what more could you want?. Steam Yard are well known for their ‘cro-nut’ which is basically a combination of an American doughnut and a croissant, filled with flavoured cream and topped with chocolate and honeycomb, popcorn fruit and cream!"
"On a cold winter’s day, there are few more heartening sights out in Sheffield than Steam Yard’s steaming coffee and welcoming interior. It’s little wonder that they’ve been recognised inside and outside the city for their quality. In addition to their great range of carefully-sourced coffee, Steam Yard also offers a fantastic range of accompanying baked goods too (including cheesecake brownies and intriguing kronuts)."
"Everyone knows that everything Scandinavian is cool, from their lights to their murder mystery TV to, well, their weather. The Scandinavian theming of this Manchester cafe isn’t entirely clearly drawn – not sure a prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich is traditionally Scandinavian – but the laidback interior is very Scandi, as is the giant map of Iceland on the wall. Wear a heavily patterned jumper if you want to hammer home the theme."
"Serving a range of single origin coffees that change on a weekly basis and dedicated to sourcing some of the best coffees available in Europe, Takk is freshly-brewing cups to go from its Tarrif Street site in the heart of the Northern Quarter only at weekends, so make sure to swing by if you’re passing. 6 Tariff Street, Manchester, M1 2FF. You can find more information via the Takk website here."
"Nordic inspired Takk on Tariff Street is one of the longer standing coffee shops on this list. Takk is a firm favourite of ours for grabbing a coffee before or after a trip to Piccadilly station. It’s also a great spot to while away an afternoon over good coffee and even better cake."
"In Manchester’s Northern Quarter, five minutes’ walk from Piccadilly Station, there is an unprepossessing street on which, about half way down, is an unprepossessing store front, part of a tall (four storey) terrace of solid, brick-built buildings. This in turn proclaims itself to be the home of TAKK, a relative newcomer to the Manchester coffee scene. Perhaps this is down to innate modesty (although given the A-boards, I doubt that) or maybe it’s a cunning ploy to lull you into a false sense of security, but the exterior really gives no clues as to the delights that await you when you step inside."
"Another Northern Quarter coffee shop, but this one doubles up as a creative space. It’s aim is to provide a welcoming space to work, meet, talk, and dream up some big ideas. Inspired by travels throughout Scandinavia and Iceland, TAKK serves a unique Nordic Style espresso and their colourful food menu won’t disappoint either."

"As the name indicates, Forge Bakehouse is a bakery, so any brunch item you're getting that involves bread will be about as fresh and tasty as it's possible to get. They do brunch with a twist, such as their Aloo Sabzi Baked Eggs. Or if you have a sweet tooth then the pictured French toast with banana, raspberry, peanut brittle, chocolate sauce, and peanut mascarpone may well be for you."
"Just out of the city centre Forge Bakehouse is a Sheffield institution, and a place we’d recommend you should head to on a regular basis (if you’ve not been there before, what are you doing?. Get down there immediately!"

Once you’re done with all the museum and gallery visits, picnics in the park, and shows at Crucible Theatre, you might want to go on a shopping spree at Meadowhall. It is an upscale shopping center in Sheffield that opened its door to customers in 1990."
"If you’re after a full days worth of shopping then head over to Meadowhall that has over 270 retail shops plus restaurants, cafes and a cinema!. Meadowhall offers high street chains and high end retail."
"When it comes to Meadowhall, it covers 1.5 million square feet of floor space and inhabits 280 stores from top independent and international brands that attracts 25 million visitors per year."
"An important chapter in our shared history, the Pankhurst Centre is the only museum in the country to highlight the struggle for the women’s vote. Housed in the ancestral home of the Pankhurst Family, the museum has a number of exhibits showcasing the fight for the right to vote and holds a number of fascinating workshops throughout the year."
"Birthplace of the suffragette movement in 1903, the Pankhurst Centre is an excellent place to learn about the fight for women’s right to vote. There are people who guide you through the house to help you learn about the history. The museum is open to the public from 10-4pm on Thursdays, and on the second and fourth Sunday of the month."
"The Pankhurst Centre is easily one of the best indoor activities in Manchester. Discover the story of Emmeline Pankhurst, a British political activist whose family lived in the house from 1898 to 1907. The centre was where the first meeting of the suffragette campaign for votes for women took place!"
"CFCCA is the UK leader in Chinese visual culture, with a reputation for debut solo exhibitions and a roster of internationally-renowned artists; impressive considering that, three decades ago, it was just a series of events in Manchester’s Chinatown. As Manchester’s Chinese population is second only to London’s, the centre’s heritage is particularly important; now represented in a new archive and library. Best feature: A vibrant events schedule, spanning film screenings to workshops and even Mandarin lessons"
"Centre For Chinese Contemporary Art is a unique art gallery with a year-round programme of socially engaged exhibitions, events, and artist residencies. They have over 30 years experience of working with emerging and established artists to provide a space for conversation, debate, and cross-cultural exchange. They are the go-to place to discover new artists and explore relevant global issues from different international perspectives."
"CFCCA reopens with a duo of exhibitions investigating and unpicking themes of belonging, identity and citizenship in a globalised and hyper-connected society. Housed in CFCCA’s Northern Quarter galleries, the exhibitions are just a few minutes’ walk from the Arndale Shopping Centre. Multiplicities in Flux brings together works by contemporary artists Grace Lau and Eelyn Lee in a dialogue around identity and belonging."

With their authentic dishes and unique menu, your belly is bound to feel satisfied after your takeaway. They have two menus, one side is British Chinese, with all your standard classic Chinese takeaway dishes, the other is Mandarin with English subtitles."
"Golden Taste is an authentic Chinese restaurant in Sheffield that specialises in self-service hot-pot. Don’t get scared away by the exterior, while it might look like a hole-in-the-wall; the food is always fresh and delicious. Making your own supper in the copper hot pot also offers a fun experience."
