Your guide to eating out on Bold Street, Liverpool in 2021
"If it’s ice cream that’s tickling your taste-buds, climb the staircase in Afflecks to the first floor to discover the most eclectic selection of flavours imaginable. Chances are that you’ve seen Ginger’s ice cream van at one of the city’s many events, festivals or markets, but for an ice-cream hit whenever you fancy, their base in Afflecks is a dessert lover’s heaven. With flavours including baked apple sorbet, black treacle and parkin, and the iconic Chorlton crack, you’re not going to find bland vanilla here."
"Ginger’s Comfort Emporium – A great place to sit and enjoy a coffee and some great ice cream. Heroes Café – Homemade burgers, pies, soup, lasagne, chilli, curries and many more delicious dishes. They are also expanding selection of their Vegan dishes."
"It was presented in a cute little glass and the menu stated it was ‘made at kitchens in Manchester.’ It definitely tasted home made and although it was nice, it was so milky that the flavour was overpowered. This was also the most expensive one."
"Ice Shack is an all-vegan dessert parlour that offers a nice treat for all people that have sweet tooth but are also on a special diet. Established in 2016 and rooted for a family’s love of desserts, they make way to share their enthusiasm and love with other people particular those under a vegan diet. Offering 0% dairy, they use a range of alternatives including truffles to offer a sweet and nice treat."
"San Carlo is an award-winning, elegant Italian restaurant which has been here on Castle Street long before it became a popular dining district. With amazing seafood and authentic Italian dishes from pizzas, pastas to steak and lobster, San Carlo is a special experience. Of all the Castle Street restaurants and bars San Carlo is an institution!"
"San Carlo is the perfect restaurant for high-end Italian dining. The restaurant itself is contemporary in feel, with a bright and sleek look creating an unbeatable atmosphere for relaxed dinners and special occasions. At San Carlo, the focus is on the quality of the food."
"For more incredible Italian dishes then have a look at the menu at San Carlo. Their Summer menu is full of fresh pasta, meats, pizzas, steaks and fish dishes for you to try."
"Hidden in the centre of the Baltic Triangle, Constellations is an arts & events space that includes a 4500 square foot garden and bar area. Designed by H Miller Bros the outdoor space has been featured in Dezeen for its zig zagging courtyards that mimin the Victorian warehouses that surround this unique venue. The garden bar stocks an extensive range of drinks including locally brewed craft beers such as the popular Love Lane."
"There are so many beer gardens for you to choose from, but Constellations has to be up there with some of the best. Not only is it a great place to relax with a beer, Constellations regularly offer brilliant food and drink events, gigs and arts markets. You will definitely be impressed by the venue’s incredible carpentry, but what’s more amazing is that it can accommodate more than 2,000 guests!"
"A post shared by Constellations Liverpool (@constellationsliverpool) on Apr 6, 2019 at 6:26am PDT. This outside space is a sun trap with a well-stocked bar and a fun and vibrant atmosphere. There is always something going on at Constellations, from family-friendly events to vinyl records sales and outdoor markets."
"Executive chef Paco Pérez, who holds five Michelin stars across seven restaurants around the world, is behind the Catalonian menu, which starts with three types of bread and tomato, cheese and charcuterie, and canapé-like tramuntanades, including toasted cheese and truffle sandwiches. ‘Tastets’ are similar in size to tapas, and beg to be matched with the all-Spanish wine list, Catalan gins and out-there cocktails (try vodka with apple, black garlic and basil oil). Order a couple of tastets each – whether Iberian ham or roasted chicken croquettes, or plates from the ‘garden’, ‘sea’ or ‘mountain’ – then move on to shared rice platters, or the likes of Iberian pork presa and bone-in sirloin steak cooked in a charcoal oven."
"Pep Guardiola’s King Street restaurant promises diners the best of Catalonia right here in Manchester. Chef Paco Perez lays claim to five Michelin stars, and food here is served in a unique style. More complex than tapas but smaller than a plate, dining here is all about taste and presentation."
"Nestled between Garstang Road, Sir Tom Finney Way and Blackpool Road, Moor Park's size is the first thing that comes to mind - as it is Preston's largest, and oldest park. Split into several areas, the park has a small observatory owned by the University of Central Lancashire, a bowling green, skate park and several fields. Over the years, Moor Park has played host to many music events hosting names such as Calvin Harris, David Guetta and Rihanna."
"Spaceport is described on their website as ‘taking an inspirational journey through space, as you walk through several themed galleries’, ‘which all feature a large variety of interactive hands-on exhibits’. The galleries and the exhibits are OK, but there is a a twenty five minute film played out on the domed ceiling of the theatre which is for me where Spaceport comes into its own. The film, about whether there is life anywhere else in the universe, had my kids, me, and the rest of the theatre were gripped."
"For fans of outer space and space travel, Liverpool’s Spaceport makes a perfect day trip. The centre features a number of rooms centred around different themes, including the solar system and spacepods, each with their own hands-on activities. There is also an ‘interactive zone’ with activities and games based around gravity and light."
"Escape the city and journey into space on a visit to Liverpool’s Spaceport science center. Explore the universe via interactive displays, take a ride on Explorer 1, and marvel at the mysteries of the cosmos in the planetarium on a family-friendly day out."
