Peel Park is a public urban park in Salford and has a significant history, being the first park to open in the UK funded entirely by public subscription, in 1846. The park has some beautifully maintained wild flowerbeds and a wide variety of specimen trees – all of which are managed by volunteers."
"One of the first public parks in the country, Peel Park opened in 1846 and was named for the Bury-born Prime Minister Sir Robert Peel (1788-1850). In 1851 the newly laid out park was the main venue for Queen Victoria’s visit to Manchester and Salford. Sitting beside the River Irwell, Peel Park is hemmed by the University of Salford and some of its residential buildings."
"It is on the eastern side of the centre of Glossop and fringes onto the Conservation Area of Old Glossop. There is a car park at Corn Mill and on-street parking is available nearby. Again, it's not technically a theme park, but with this much going on for free, it deserves a mention."
"Just off Blackpool Road in Preston, Ashton Park was originally part of the grounds of the grand Ashton House which was built in 1810. It was later used for recreational purposes, before being bought in 1937 by Preston Town Council for just £27. Ashton Park now boasts small woodlands, flower displays and a peace garden, along with two bowling greens, tennis courts, outdoor gym and nine football pitches!"

"Why: Housing a café and bar as well as an event and exhibition space, this trendy Manchester breakfast spot serves up tasty plates of crowd-pleasing combinations. The works of art on the walls are reflected on the plate with pretty presentation coming as standard. Tuck into toasted banana bread with butter and house-made chocolate spread or take things up a level with green eggs that see two crispy fried eggs served with griddled avocado, spinach and sourdough toast."
"Sure, Prestwich may not rival Ancoats when it comes to food and drink, but there’s a lovely bunch of indie joints that are well worth the 20-minute tram from the city centre. Our favourite is All The Shapes, a casual bar-restaurant-café serving up fun, family-friendly vibes. Their speciality coffee is best enjoyed with a wedge of cake on their pretty, sun-soaked terrace (yes, sometimes the sun shines in Manchester)."
"What: Found in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, The Pen and Pencil takes its name from the notorious mid-20th-century joint on New York’s ‘Steak Row’, although there’s more than just sirloin on the menu. Head here for brunch dishes, burgers and light bites such as chicken wings or spinach and feta rolls. Sunseekers will also be glad to know that The Pen and Pencil has a large outdoor seating area for those who prefer to dine alfresco."
"The Pen and Pencil’s bottomless brunch runs on the last Saturday of every month, and it costs £40pp. This might sound a bit steep at first, but not only do you get bottomless drinks, but you also get bottomless food!. Yep, that’s right, once you’ve finished your first plate of food, you can just order another one."
"Like your brunch plates to come with a side of bottomless fizz?. The Pen & Pencil is the restaurant for you. Oozing New York vibes with its industrial decor, this spacious eatery is keeping bellies stuffed with comfort food classics, plenty of bubbles and a choice of breakfast cocktails."
"The Anthologist, located in Manchester, GB, is a trendy, pet-friendly cocktail bar that welcomes Fido!. Your pup can join you at one of their pet-friendly tables while you enjoy an evening nightcap. Start off with a Hummingbird (Tanqueray gin, raspberries, lime, and elderflower) and an order of the Tempura Sweet Potato Skins with crispy sage leaves, sweet potato, and smoked paprika rouille."
"One St Peter's Square, Manchester, Greater Manchester, M2 3DE. Colourful and with a buzzy atmosphere, The Anthologist is an all-day casual dining joint which can cater to every dining whim. Weekend brunches are particularly popular here, while the pre-theatre menu is a real steal."
"The Anthologist is a contemporary European restaurant with cool interiors and an impressive vegetarian menu. From coconut-crusted tofu to mushroom shawarma and naughty gnocchi mac 'n' cheese, there are plenty of divine dishes to choose from."
