The 5 Most Impressive Buildings in Manchester, UK
"Another grand old building that a lucky few can get wed inside, John Rylands is still in use as a functioning library (as part of the University of Manchester library), although many visitors come simply to admire the architecture. The building is actually a vast memorial to the late John Rylands, conceived by his wife and designed by Basil Champneys. Similar in style to the Town Hall, this is another example of neo-Gothic architecture that is revered worldwide."

TOP 23872 Attractions Recommended in Stretford- Recommended Travel Guide Page 3 – Most visited tourist attraction
"Dating back to the 15th century, the Manchester Cathedral has experienced quite a bit of history! After Henry VIII broke away from the Roman Catholic Church, the Cathedral's riches were confiscated. During the English Civil war in the mid 17th century, pitched battles were fought inside and around the Cathedral between the Royalists (those supporting Charles I, the Stewarts, and the Anglican Church) and the Roundheads (Oliver Cromwell loyalists). Also Ann Lee, the founder of the religious movement called the Shakers interrupted services here when she lived in Manchester. The church was targeted by the Nazi Luftwaffe and received a direct head during the bombings of 1940. Yet through all this the Church maintains it's quiet dignity and beauty. It is a must see while in Manchester!"

Cask masters: A craft-beer enthusiast’s guide to Manchester

On a warm evening, sat under the courtyard’s DIY pergola, eating astonishingly good Neapolitan pizza from Honest Crust, as a range of diverting DJs spin, it is one of the city’s best off-piste industrial hideaways. Out of season, you can also drink Blackjack’s beers (timeless hoppy cask pales, such as New Deck, out-there creations like the jasmine tea saison Dragon’s Tears), at its pub, the Smithfield."
