"Perched on the banks of the River Irwell, Manchester Cathedral - officially the Cathedral and Collegiate Church of St. Mary, St. Denys, and St. George - dates mostly from 1422 to 1506 and was raised to cathedral status in 1847. Particularly attractive are its chapels on both sides of the nave and choir. It was built between 1486 and 1508 with further additions and alterations in almost every subsequent century."

"Manchester Cathedral has been around since 1215, but has gone through multiple refurbishments. It’s not a massive cathedral but is a nice way to spend an hour or so. Entrance is free (although donations are encouraged)."

"Seconds on foot from the futuristic architecture of Salford Quays is a splendid Tudor mansion, home to the Radclyffe family for 300 years. The surviving parts of Ordsall Hall are built on two ranges around a courtyard knot garden, the south dating to the 15th century, and the west range completed in 1639. These both incorporate older elements dating back 750 years."

"84 Plymouth Grove is known now as Elizabeth Gaskell's House, a small museum dedicated to Victorian literature and life. The Grade II listed neoclassical villa was once the residence of William and Elizabeth Gaskell, Manchester's most famous Victorian writer, and the rooms have been preserved to showcase her life. There is also a scenic garden, which has been planted to detail the sort of garden the Gaskells would have had back in the day."

"With Manchester taxis, you can now visit the Elizabeth Gaskell’s House. Elizabeth Gaskell was a famous novelist with many famous works such as Cranford and North and South, which are already adapted for television. Also, consider visiting the Grade II listed Regency villa."

"The B29 Overexposed Crash Site is an exciting and memorable Peak District walk, as it is a site where 13 people tragically lost their lives in 1948. We recommend exploring the area but also be respectful as it is a memorial. It is interesting how after 70 years, you can still see vast parts of the wreckage."

"Kinder Scout is the highest point in the Peak District and is, therefore, a popular route for hikers. The walk from Edale goes up Jacob’s Ladder towards some incredible rock formations and, of course, the Kinder Low trig point. It is easy to see why it is one of the best Peak District walks because it is wild, unspoilt and a lot of fun to scramble and climb."

"Edale Village Hall Car Park - 10 minute drive from Losehill House. As the tallest peak in the Peak District, the views from the top of Kinder Scout are wide-reaching and truly beautiful. On a clear day, the city of Manchester can be seen from the plateau, as well as the mountains of Snowdonia in Wales."

"It is on the eastern side of the centre of Glossop and fringes onto the Conservation Area of Old Glossop. There is a car park at Corn Mill and on-street parking is available nearby. Again, it's not technically a theme park, but with this much going on for free, it deserves a mention."
