"This church built in the Gothic style is a very pretty sight to see in Manchester. One of the oldest buildings in the city, it is also a historic site. The stunning design of the rustic building is reason enough to visit it but the interiors are equally beautiful and are sure to transport you back in time."

"Right next to the Football Museum, you can find the beautiful Manchester Cathedral. While I have as much with churches as I have with football, I did have a quick look inside and the architecture was beautiful:"

"Sheffield Cathedral is one of five Grade I listed buildings in the city, along with Town Hall, Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, and the parish churches at Ecclesfield and Bradfield. It is located in the city centre on Church Street and served by Sheffield Supertram's Cathedral stop. The East end of the current church is the oldest."

"Cathedral Church of St. Peter and St. Paul is located on the church street in the city center. It is the parish church of Sheffield and is also known as Sheffield Cathedral. Some stones in this church dates back even to the 13th century."

"The vantage point at Bamford Edge provides the most beautiful view over Ladybower Reservoir. This spot can be particularly enchanting around sunset as the last of the day’s light bounces off the water and hillsides which surround it."

"This one is a bit of a trek from the Manchester city center (we went here as part of a private black cab taxi tour of the city), but it is a must-visit spot for music fans. Devotees of The Smiths come from all over the world to recreate their famous photo take in front of the Salford Lads Club for the inside sleeve of their 1986 album, The Queen is Dead. Go have your own Morrissey moment!"

"Standing high above the picturesque village of Castleton are the imposing ruins of Peveril Castle, one of England’s earliest Norman fortresses. After an exhilarating climb from the village you are rewarded with breath-taking panoramic views over Hope Valley from the top of the hill. All that survives of the castle today is the atmospheric keep, built by Henry II in 1176."

"In the near centre of Wakefield sits the magnificent Wakefield Cathedral, or the even grander title of the Cathedral Church of All Saints in Wakefield. Although we owe the Victorians for Wakefield Cathedral’s current appearance, restored and reopened in 1888, it has been a place of worship since the 9th-century, and has even been mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086. "Another incredibly old building, Wakefield Cathedral is the tallest church in Yorkshire and has a long and fascinating history. Although it has been developed and rebuilt at various points over the past 900 years, the building which exists today dates back to the 14th century. Its 247-foot tall spire is visible from many of the suburbs of Wakefield and even beyond on a clear day."

Funk, soul and disco are blasted out at this Northern Quarter institution every Saturday, and have been for donkeys - it's Manchester's longest-running club night. 'Seated sessions' started a couple of weeks ago but the Funkademia dancefloor will be back on Saturday July 24."
