"With a history stretching back to the Middle Ages, the grade I-listed Cathedral Church of St Mary, St Denys and St George is one of Manchester’s oldest and most beautiful buildings. It is notable for its spectacular wooden furnishings and stained glass displays, much of which was restored in 1952 after the Blitz. Free guided tours are available most days from Monday to Saturday."

It’s a lovely walk to the summit – follow our easy 1.8km Solomon’s Temple walk – and can be combined with your visit to Poole’s Cavern as the walk starts from the same car park."

"You could follow up a visit to Poole’s Cavern with a walk through the woods and past cow herds up to this Victorian folly 440 metres above sea level. Solomon’s Temple was unveiled in 1896, replacing a tower from earlier that century. That structure had been built by one Solomon Mycock, owner of the Cheshire Cheese Hotel, which is where the name comes from."

"The B29 Overexposed Crash Site is an exciting and memorable Peak District walk, as it is a site where 13 people tragically lost their lives in 1948. We recommend exploring the area but also be respectful as it is a memorial. It is interesting how after 70 years, you can still see vast parts of the wreckage."
