"Beatnikz microbrewery is located in a railway arch in the Green Quarter, and their taproom used to be too. But they closed it last year and moved to a shiny new bar in the Northern Quarter where they’ve just introduced a beer slushie machine. Head in to enjoy their core range of beers."
"This Welsh doughnut shop in the Northern Quarter offers melt-in-your-mouth doughnuts made on-site by Blawd bakery including inventive flavours such as apple crumble, maple pecan glaze, cherry bakewell and strawberries and cream. For National Doughnut Week there are rhubarb, vanilla and raspberry fills all week long, or try their mango lassi edition – a special collaboration with indian street food specialists Bundobust. Big dollops of dough are baked until warm and crispy, but still soft enough to dip into with a spoon, then loaded with various sauces and toppings. Indulgent flavours include red velvet and Nutella, white chocolate and raspberry, Oreo, fudge and honeycomb, Biscoff, and coconut chocolate."

"This Didsbury pizza place had already proove-d itself on the classic pizza front but has recently really stepped up its vegan game too. Not content with a token ‘vegan cheese optional’ footnote, instead a whole menu of vegan pizzas ‘designed by vegans for vegans’ has joined the party. Choose from nine pizzas from the basic Margherita to wildcards like the Art-Beet with basil, beetroot and artichokes or La Contadina with green pea base, sauteed cabbage, capers, vegan Mozzarella and pistachios."
"I swear that the good people of Manchester were waiting for me to leave… I’d been visiting for the inaugural Cup North back in 2014 and no sooner had I left, than it seemed a slew of new coffee shops opened, led by Federal Café & Bar, which, by the way, does what it says on the tin. By day, it’s a café, while by night, it morphs into a bar, although, as I discovered, the staff will happily serve you coffee long into the night (and, I suspect, alcohol during the day). The coffee side of the equation is handled by Kiwi transplants, Ozone, supplying the Hodson blend and decaf on espresso, with a couple of single-origins on pour-over, impressive when you consider the (lack of) available space."

It features all of our favourite kinds of healthy food, such as banana bread (well, it does contain fruit), smashed avocado and French toast. It’s also ranked 11/1,752 restaurants in Manchester on TripAdvisor, so we really think we’re onto a winner with this one!"
