"Set in the heart of the city is the spectacular Chester Cathedral, which exhibits some exquisite architecture. Erected atop a much older church, the colossal cathedral was constructed between the eleventh and sixteenth centuries, with splendid stained glass windows lining its red sandstone walls."

"Chester Cathedral was founded as a Benedictine abbey in 1092 and dedicated to Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary, The original church was built in the Romanesque or Norman style, parts of which can still be seen today. This church was subsequently rebuilt from around 1250 onward in the Gothic style and is what can be seen today."

"Speke Hall is a beautiful National Trust property on the banks of the river Mersey, complete with its own garden and estate. The timber-framed Tudor façade hides a fully restored Victorian Arts and Crafts interior. The Home Farm restaurant on site serves freshly cooked local produce, and there’s a second hand bookshop on site if you want something to read while you relax in the grounds."

"Speke Hall is a Tudor manor house on the outskirts of the city, near Liverpool John Lennon airport. With parts of the building dating back to approximately 1530, this is one of the finest manor houses of its kind that’s still standing."

"A treasured monument and attraction in Warrington, Walton Hall is a Jacobean Revival mansion, built in the 1830s for Sir Gilbert Greenall, an MP who had a 45-year career at the House of Commons. The house has been owned by the council since 1941 and hosts chamber music concerts and can be hired out for weddings and other events. Immediately outside the house is a formal garden, while there are ample facilities for families in the park."

"This stirring Jacobean Revival country house owes its current appearance to the Victorian architect Edward Blore, who also worked on Buckingham Palace and St James’s Palace. His remodelled facade is from the 1830s, though the house dates back more than a century before. Capesthorne Hall is now primarily a wedding venue, but does receive visitors on Sundays and Mondays during spring and summer."

"The May Blitz of 1941 saw St Luke’s church forever changed when a bomb landed right on top of it’s roof. Over time, the city has lovingly restored it back to life and it now plays host to everything from weddings, to gigs, to farmers markets and cinema screenings. The church itself and the gardens around it are a total treat for the eye."
