Best breakfast and brunch places in Liverpool and beyond
"One for the vegans here, Bundobust is the perfect example of proving that you don't need meat to pack a punch. With a proper fast-food feel, despite being able to eat in at their Piccadilly location, each time those lovely little pots are plonked in front of you is just as exciting at the last. The tarka dhal is to die for, their food has a real grab-and-go feel to it and it's very reasonably priced considering the amount of flavour you get out of each dish."
"You can eat for well under a tenner at Indian kitchen Bundobust. Located in the Northern Quarter, the restaurant is a veggie haven of spicy cooking; we recommend the masala dosa, a warming combination of soup and mini pancakes."
"The Quarter Liverpool is a fantastic quaint takeaway deli in the Georgian Quarter, close enough to most of the major hotels in the city. If you’re stopping over in the city nearby then you should definitely come here to fill up on a fabulous breakfast or brunch (with veggie options too!) to get you ready for the rest of the day ahead!. Check out some of the Liverpool events to know about throughout the year."
"Set on the beautiful cobbled streets of Faulkner Street in Liverpool’s quaint Georgian Quarter, this stylish eatery features perfect executions of Bruncher favourites including one of the finest veggie breakfasts in the city. If the weather is permitting, try and get an outdoor seat and enjoy fantastic views of the nearby Anglican Cathedral."
"Book your table for The Quarter and enjoy lunch on the cobbled streets of the beautiful Georgian Quarter. Their beautiful menu is perfect for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a drink. View this post on Instagram"
"This restaurant and bar is a distinguished part of the Royal Albert Dock and guarantees an authentic Italian experience. With the motto “Con Amici” (which means eating with friends) and a wide variety of food and drink choices, this restaurant can quickly become your friends and family’s food home. Gusto is currently open, with limited spacing, hours and maintaining social distancing guidelines."
"GUSTO on the Albert Dock and on Telegraph Road in Heswall also run offers for people in their dining club. You can sign up to the dining club on the website here and it will give you special offers. The restaurant also runs offers for those not in the dining club, which has previously included a two course lunch menu from ÂŁ13.95 and a two course evening menu from ÂŁ16.95."
"An obvious choice for a drink in Liverpool and steeped in musical history Cavern Club is a no-brainer when it comes to catching a little live music in the city. On Sunday’s, as with any other day of the week, The Cavern Club both have a variety of live music performances. Most are in the rock n roll genre and can range from relaxed acoustic sessions to Merseybeat covers and Beatles tributes."
"Famous as the stage where the Beatles made their debut in 1961, Liverpool’s Cavern Club has become a place of legend, hosting not only the Fab Four, but the Who, the Kinks, the Rolling Stones, Queen, Elton John, and many more household names. The influential club remains one of Liverpool’s top live music venues to this day."
"It is an underground bar that was very active back in the 1960s when the Beatles used to sing. Since then, other famous bands and singers have visited this bar and even performed thus leaving their mark on the club. A number of local bands play music here every single day."

"Perfect for anyone with green fingers, the Allotment is undoubtedly a completely unique place to eat in Manchester, styled as a botanical garden. The fresh vibe of the airy venue extends to the cocktail and food menu, with both being made up of fresh fruits, vegetables and spices. Guests can enjoy a healthy salad, sink their teeth around a hearty sandwich and even share a platter of seasonal food with their friends."
"If yiou fancy a country escape but can't get out of the city, this is the quirky restart in Manchester for you. Join Allotment for botanical-inspired cocktails and rustic British plates while relaxing against a backdrop of foliage, wooden plots and gardening tools."
"Allotment is just a really cute place to have a meal and take a few snaps as you recline in rustic interiors surrounded by beautiful botany."
"We’re happy to give St John’s Gardens top marks for looks - after all, they’re meticulously kept, lined with a series of pretty walls and dotted with all kinds of lovely statues and flowerbeds - but the inner city location and relatively modest size mean it can seem a bit cramped (there's also something a bit wrong about cracking open a can of lager 50 feet from a dual carriageway). Still, it's great for a quick walk around."
"If you’re around the St George’s Plateau then head round the back to chill out in St John’s Gardens. The garden, which is part of the William Brown Street conservation area, has been a Green Flag site since 2003 and contains ornamental flower beds and various memorials to notable people in the city. A great spot to soak up the rays."
"PLY, 26 Lever Street, Manchester, Greater Manchester, M1 1DW - Visit now. The waft of pizza and the soft music are the final pieces in an atmospheric puzzle that makes PLY one of the most welcoming pizzerias in Manchester."
"Just really delicious and cheap food in Manchester city centre. Visit PLY at lunchtime when all pizzas are £6.50 – bargain. Where: 26 Lever Street."
"In Rome pizza isn't round; it's rectangular and served al taglio (by the slice). The owners of this pizza bar travelled to the Italian capital to learn how it's done, and it shows. Everything is made onsite, every day, and it's all good, from the elegant simplicity of the beautifully light, bouncy focaccia, dressed with olive oil, rosemary and sea salt, to classic toppings such as broccoli, sausage and chilli."
"While ice cream isn’t their raison d’etre, Northern Quarter pizzeria Slice offer the continental experience in abundance, allowing you to eat al fresco in Stevenson Square with a cup of their custom-made gelato. Their rotating lineup is impressive too, varying from classic flavours such as raspberry ripple to the experimental Key lime pie. 1a Stevenson Sq, Northern Quarter, M1 1DN"
